The balconies on each face all afford wonderful sea views; the
Southwest aspect looks onto Yon Bay with the white sandy beach of
Lone Island glittering in the near distance. To the east are the
Phi
Phi Islands and the northward view overlooks Makham Bay. The
site is completely picturesque and extremely quiet. This house is
a sanctuary set into lush hillside within the Vanich Bay View development.
With few limitations imposed by the development planners, the house
is creatively customized from a basic design. "I wanted lots
of outdoor areas, "explained homeowner Mr. Marcus Benzinger.
While the structures may provide ample support for a four-storey
building, Mr. Benzinger has found his needs are met with only two
so far. To the right of the foyer at street level, is an open air
dining room and lounge area, screened by some soon-to-be-tamed foliage.
Beyond this thriving vegetation lays a guest suite, the privacy
of which allows houseguests to feel less intrusive during their
stay. Straight ahead of the entrance is a large personal office
with floor to ceiling windows that generously slide open to take
in the fresh air. Upstairs is a comfortable sitting room, kitchen
and master suite, all of which open onto a small terrace and outdoor
Jacuzzi.
Adjoining the modern kitchen is a small breakfast terrace. The
airy interior layout provides a bright ambient interior lighting.
Low maintenance was a high priority consideration in the design
of the house, however polished teakwood hand rails, decorative beams
and graceful roof gables were deemed a necessary concession to style
and beauty. The exterior floors are covered in a sand-wash finish,
highlighted with sand coloured tiles. The master bedroom has a birch
coloured parquet floor and the remaining interior floors are tiled.
Soft earthy colour tones are used throughout which meld into a relaxing
and soothing interior. The comfortably roomy Italian made bathtub
was simply "a necessity"says Marcus and the bathroom
fittings feature antique-style brass and trendy brushed stainless
steal taps. Like all other furnishings, these products were imported
from leading European designers at quite a cost.
The area right next to the house is planned to become a park which
will include a Thai sala and fish pond. Having recently sacrificed
a large open porch to accommodate the office, Marcus is now finalizing
the blueprints for a two-story addition overlooking the parkland
with a wooden walkway for direct access, which will be easily added
to the existing support columns on the hillside.
The completed infrastructure of local services coupled with the
security of dealing with the professional developers of Vanich Bay
View, made the decision to purchase this land and house package
a satisfying experience. Phuket
Town is only 10 minutes away and nearby are a variety of shops and
restaurants serving sumptuous local cuisine, including delicious
Muslim food, served in humble restaurants and hawkers' stalls. For
Marcus, proximity to sports facilities was a major factor in choosing
the location of this home. Saphin Hin Tennis Club and Phuket City
Spa are within a short drive and there is a golf course only 30
minutes away. A Clubhouse, located 50 metres up the hill, has a
well appointed gym, an infinity edge swimming pool, barbecue and
an entertainment facility for parties. This well-equipped entertainment
area is available for use by estate homeowners. From here, a staircase
leads down to yacht moorings placed about 30 metres off the bay
shore and situated a little further along the coast is an undiscovered
sandy beach. The site is wonderful and the house is home for Marcus.
